The Pen and the Skeleton

My name is Jonah Lobe. You might know me from my work on games like Skyrim and Fallout, or as the illustrator for Marvel’s first-and-only biology textbook, Marvel Anatomy: A Scientific Study of the Superhuman. I’ve worked in the realm of art and fantasy for decades — I build worlds, make fantasy art, and do by best to entertain and educate with high-quality videos on YouTube.

I no longer work for the corporate world.

In July 2024, I launched a graphic novel, Quiet: Level One, on Kickstarter, where it became the #1 Most-Funded Graphic Novel from a first-time creator with an original IP ever. Q:L1 is the story of a little skeleton forced to defeat an unstoppable barbarian.

This Substack, the Tree of Worlds, is both the diary of this process, a course on world-building, and a distillation of everything I’m learning about the comic book world.
